St. Paul, Minn. – The Saint Benedict volleyball team fell in four sets to UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 15, dropping a 3-1 decision in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 6 ranked Blazers end the season with a 27-4 record, while the Pointers improve to 33-4 and win for the 22nd straight time.

The No. 19 Pointers took the first set 25-20, before the Blazers evened the score with a 25-23 win in the second. UW-Stevens Point then flipped the script in the third with a 25-23 win of their own, before closing out the win with a 25-20 win in the fourth.

The Blazers were led by
Lexi Alm (Stacy, Minn.) with a match high 17 kills, finishing with a season high, and double digit kills in 13 of the final 15 matches.
Lexi Rinde (Minntonka, Minn.) added 12 as the two were the only two in the double figures for the Blazers, hitting double figures for the eighth time in the season's final nine matches.

The Pointer defense held the powerful Blazer offense in check throughout the match, limiting the attack to just a .127 mark at the net, their second lowest output of the season.

Taya Kockelman (Minneota, Minn.) finishing with 42 of the Blazers' 51 total assists on the night, topping the 40-mark for the second time in the postseason, and the 11th on the year.

For the effort put forth by the Pointer defense, the Blazers were equally up to the task, posting a season high 101 digs in the back row, as well as 14 block assists to hold the Pointers to a .181 hitting mark. Five players finished in double figures in digs, led by 31 from
Victoria Nass (Faribault, Minn.) – her second best mark of the season – and 23 from
Chelsea Rachel (Maple Lake, Minn.), who just missed a double-double with eight kills.

Adding 19 digs was Alm, who charted her 17th double-double of the season, and fourth straight to close the season.

Finishing with just four losses, the Blazers saw each come to teams currently ranked in the top-20, with three at the hands of the two teams set to play for the Regional Championship.Â
