St. Cloud, Minn. -- The rematch between the of Saint Benedict and Hamline hockey teams proved to be a battle between well matched teams as the game ended in a 0-0 scoreless tie. The entire game was physical as both defenses and goalies showed up to play today (Jan. 26).
Kaitlyn Rolando started in net for the Blazers (4-6-4, 2-6-3 MIAC) and recorded 32 saves, many of which came from directly in front of her. Her counterpart, Sarah Schneekloth stopped 42 for the Pipers (5-8-4, 2-6-2 MIAC), earning her the first star of the game.
Rolando, however, showed off her entire skill set in the second period where the Blazers were forced into a 5-on-3 situation due to penalties on
Siri Berg-Moberg and
Mariah Ledeen. The junior goalie found herself taking shots from all angles and ended up in many different positions to make all of the saves. The Blazers killed those two penalties, along with all of the others, in this high-energy game at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

Today's game was drastically different than yesterday's 3-2 score where the Pipers emerged victorious. With the Blazers at home they outshot the Pipers by 10 and won the fight in the faceoff circle, 32-to-25.
Megan Brettingen was key in her role at center today as she won 18 draws and only lost nine.
Alli O'Brien and Allyson Nielsen led all players with seven shots on net, closely followed by Alyssa Hoffman and the Pipers' Chelsea Koehn with six each. Â
With the final period of regulation ending, both teams picked up penalties. The Blazers'
Megan Schwegman was called for hooking with 1:32 to play and Haley Johnson of Hamline was called for roughing with 10.0 seconds to play. Carrying over to overtime the Blazers killed their penalty and set up in the Piper zone. Just as they had all game, the Pipers and Schneekloth killed the penalty.
The remaining few minutes saw the Blazers and Pipers exchanging shots and opportunities but to no avail. Schneekloth amassed five saves in the extra period as Rolando stopped three, earning her first shutout of the season.
The Blazers next look to take on Saint Mary's in an important series for both teams as they sit on the playoff bubble. Game one of the back-to-back away games against the Cardinals will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 1 in Winona, Minn.
