St. Peter, Minn. – The Saint Benedict volleyball team made it a dozen today (Oct. 20), with their 3-1 road win over Gustavus. The Blazers won by set scores of 25-16, 16-25, 29-27 and 25-19.
Lexi Alm led the way yet again, with a career-high tying 21 kills, leading three Blazers in double figures. CSB (24-4, 8-1 MIAC) totaled 60 kills in the match, while Gustavus (9-17, 3-6 MAIC) was held to just 41.
With eight wins in MIAC play, the Blazers tie their mark from last season, with two games left to play.
Joining Alm on the leader board was
Sophie Stangl with 11 kills and Alexa Rinde with 10. Alm also led the team with a .333 attack percentage, finishing with just five errors on nearly 50 attempts
Taya Kockelman was in control yet again, totaling 51 assists in just the four sets, while
Victoria Nass led the defense with 24 digs on the backline, nearing the 600 mark on the season.
Now the Blazers will return home for their final regular season match in Claire Lunch Hall, hosting Bethel at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24. A win for the Blazers and they will lock up the second seed in the upcoming MIAC tournament.
