The College of Saint Benedict Blazer volleyball team (10-6 overall, 2-1 MIAC) defeated conference opponent Macalester 3-0 tonight in Claire Lynch Hall.

Saint Benedict took an early 1-0 lead after defeating the Scots 25-20 in the first set. The Blazers tallied 15 kills and a .233 kill percentage as they held Macalester to a -.044 kill percentage. CSB appeared to be too much for the Scots as they took the second set 25-12. Saint Benedict earned 13 kills as they produced a .480 kill percentage in the second set. Macalester had 10 kills as the Blazers held them to a .027 kill percentage. The Blazers carried their momentum from the first two sets into the third to take the match with a 25-16 win over Macalester. CSB generated 14 kills and a .242 kill percentage in the third set and held the Scots to a .036 kill percentage.

Leading the Blazers on the attack was first-year outside hitter Alexa Rinde (Minnetonka, MN, Orono). Rinde notched 12 kills and earned a .455 kill percentage in tonight's match.  Sophomore libero Chelsea Rachel (Maple Lake, MN, Maple Lake) compiled 18 digs as sophomore outside hitter Lexi Alm (Stacy, MN, Forest Lake) constructed 10 kills and a .474 kill percentage. First-year setter Taya Kockelman (Minneota, MN, Minneota)  delivered 29 set assists for the Blazers.

Saint Benedict returns to action on Friday, September 30th, as they head to Decorah, IA to take on Luther College at 7 pm.
