The College of Saint Benedict Blazer volleyball team (5-5 overall, 1-0 MIAC) defeated conference opponent Augsburg 3-1 Wednesday night in St. Paul, MN.
Saint Benedict won a tough fought first set against the Auggies 32-30. The Blazers compiled 17 kills and earned a .240 kill percentage in the first set. CSB went on to win the third set 25-22 while holding Augsburg to a .083 kill percentage. The Auggies fought back to cut the Blazers lead to one after taking the third set 23-25. Saint Benedict notched a kill percentage of .423 with 13 kills to take the fourth set and the match, with a 25-15 win over Augsburg.

Alexa Rinde (Minnetonka, MN, Orono) led the Blazers in kills (14) and compiled a .444 kill percentage. Sophomore libero
Chelsea Rachel (Maple Lake, MN, Maple Lake) came up with 27 digs, while first-year setter
Taya Kockelman (Minneota, MN, Minneota) netted 34 set assists.
Senior outside hitter
Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forrest Lake) produced 10 kills and became the 11th person in Blazer history to reach 1,000 kills.
Saint Benedict returns to action this Friday, September 17th, when they host St. Scholastica at 5 p.m. in the Blazer Invitational. The Blazers play Simpson College at 7 p.m. Friday night.
