The College of Saint Benedict Blazer tennis team (2-2 overall, 0-0 MIAC) defeated the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs(0-4 overall) 8-1 Saturday afternoon in Duluth, MN.
Saint Benedict began the day by sweeping the doubles portion of the day while only giving up a total of seven games. The Blazers applied pressure to the Bulldogs right away and were very active at the net.
At singles the Blazers were nearly perfect, losing just one of six matches. First-year
Jamie Hoffman (Bemidji, MN, Bemidji) picked up the match winner against former high school teammate Brittany Thompson. Hoffman beat Thompson 6-2, 6-2. The Blazers only lost match was an 11-9 tiebreaker between Saint Benedict senior
Elissa Husby (Duluth, MN, Marshall) and UMD's Anna Witty. Junior
Megan Seipel (New London, MN, New London-Spicer) was perfect at number six singles winning both sets 6-0.
