Blazer Soccer Downs Conference Opponent St. Kate's 4-1.

Results

The College of Saint Benedict Blazer Soccer team (6-4-1 overall, 4-1-1 MIAC) used a strong offensive attack, putting up 27 total shots to defeat St. Kate's (1-12 overall, 0-6 MIAC) 4-1 at 1 pm Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

The first half was all Blazers as they recorded 16 shots (6 on goal) while St. Kate's recorded zero. The Blazers defense was as strong as they have been all season not letting St. Kate's push the ball into the zone. First-year forward Katherine Rogosheske (St. Cloud, MN, Apollo) opened the scoring for the Blazers off an assist from senior forward Heather Beshears (Maple Grove, MN, Maple Grove) to make it 1-0.

Only one minute later first-year forward Alli O'Brien (Stillwater, MN, Stillwater) laced one past St. Kate's goalkeeper Abby Hinton to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead. CSB recorded five corners in the first half, however no goals were scored during each opportunity.

The Wildcats started the second half very strong as junior midfielder Abby McGurran-Hanson placed one past first-year goalkeeper Claire O'Brien (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View) off a corner from Bri Coulter, cutting the Blazers lead in half to make the game 2-1. This goal did not faze the Blazers as sophomore forward Colleen Bouchard (Cedar Rapids, IA, Xavier) quickly responded with a goal of her own to make the score 3-1 Blazers. Junior forward Paige Olson (Plymouth, MN, West Lutheran) also added another insurance goal to make the final score 4-1 in favor of the Blazers.

Katherine Rogosheke and Colleen Bouchard added their third goals of the season, while Ali O'Brien and Paige Olson added their second.

The Blazers travel to play conference opponent Bethel at 4 pm on October 11, 2011 in St. Paul, Minn.
