The College of Saint Benedict nordic ski team opened up the 2011 season with a second place finish at the Saints Invitational held at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. The Blazers finished with 34 total points in the 12K Classic Race. Gustavus Adolphus edged out the Blazers with 35 points to take first place honors.
Sophomore
Megan Smith (Lakeville, MN, Lakeville North) led the way for CSB with a strong individual performance. Smith finished first overall with a time of 40:39. The next finisher was two minutes and 39 seconds behind Smith. Sophomore
Caitlin Goodman (Eugene, OR, South Eugene) finished fourth overall at 45:19, and senior
Stephani Seymour (Plymouth, MN, Wayzata) was also a key contributor with an 11th place finish.
The Blazers travel to Duluth, MN next weekend, January 15 and 16, for NCAA Qualifer #2.
