Box Score

The College of Saint Benedict Blazer tennis team (2-2 MIAC, 6-4 overall) lost their second match in as many days in a 5-4 defeat to Southwest Minnesota State (3-4 NSIC, 7-7 overall) on Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph, MN.

CSB won their #1 doubles match as senior Rachel Tiegs (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) and junior Elissa Husby (Duluth, MN, Marshall) defeated Trisha Baldwin and Cailey Grupe 8-3.  The Mustangs were able to win the next to double contests, though, as sophomores Caitlin Conlon (Lake Geneva, WI, Marian Catholic Central) and Alyson Brandell (Elk River, MN, Elk River) lost 8-3 to Lissa Murakami and Danielle Hildebrandt, and first-year Ashley Forstrom (Clara City, MN, MACCRAY) and sophomore MacKenzie Rayman (Burnsville, MN, Apple Valley) were tipped 9-8 (7-4) by Amy Daniels and Angie Wiegmann.

Saint Benedict needed to win four of the six singles matches in order to claim the non-conference victory, but they only won three, with victories by #4 Megan Seipel (New London, MN, New London-Spicer),  #5 Sarah Rossman (Rochester, MN, Lourdes), and #6 Matia Twedt (St. Cloud, MN, Cathedral).  Senior Katie Rudnitski (Gilman, MN, Foley), Husby and Brandell fell in their respective matches.

The Blazers travel to Winona to play two contests on Sunday, April 11th.  First, they face Saint Mary's at 10 am and then compete against Wisconsin-Stout at 1 pm.
