College of Saint Benedict student-athleteÂ
Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, Minn.)Â has been awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship for her outstanding academic and athletic achievements.
The scholarship is given to 87 men and 87 women who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Nominees must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.200, excellent achievement in athletics and the plans to enroll in a graduate degree program on a part or full-time basis.
Jaynes, a standout volleyball player, was a a second team All America honoree in 2008 and made the All-American honorable mention team in 2007 and 2009. She was also named to the All-Region team three times and a first-team MIAC selection three years in a row. She holds Saint Benedict records in career kills (1,515), digs (1,871), and double-doubles (75). Jaynes also helped lead the Blazers to the Divison III national quarterfinals in 2008.
Jaynes will graduate in May of 2010 with an accounting degree and minors in mathematics and management.
