The College of Saint Benedict Blazer tennis team (1-1 MIAC, 5-1 overall) earned their first conference win of the season 6-3 against St. Catherine (1-3 MIAC, 2-4 overall) on Sunday afternoon at Gold's Gym in Sartell, MN.

The Blazers began the match well as the #1 doubles team of senior Rachel Tiegs (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) and sophomore Lauren Jones (Ogden, UT, Saint Joseph Catholic) won 8-4 over freshman Michaela Burroughs and senior Martha Ginder, and junior Elissa Husby (Duluth, MN, Marshall) and sophomore Alyson Brandell (Elk River, MN, Elk River) defeated freshmen Danielle Munsterman and Kailyn Schroeder 8-2 at #3 doubles.

Saint Benedict won four of the six singles matches to solidify the victory, including wins by Tiegs at #1 (6-4, 6-1), junior Kylie Huether (Sioux Falls, SD , Washington) at #2 (6-3, 7-6 (3)), senior Katie Rudnitski (Gilman, MN, Foley) (6-4, 7-6 (4)) at #3, and at #5, Jones (6-3, 6-2 (9)).

CSB next plays on Saturday, March 20th against Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 9 am at Gold's Gym in Sartell, MN.
