The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (2-3 overall, 0-0 MIAC) couldn't get past Simpson (1-3 overall) as they suffered a close 3-2 loss to end their time in Seattle.
The Blazers jumped to a 10-5 lead in the beginning of the first set. Despite a tie at 14, CSB maintained its momentum, edging Simpson 25-19.
Falling behind 10-9 in the second set, the Blazers caught the Storm with seven tied scores and one minor lead change at 15-14 before Simpson pulled ahead 25-21 to even the score at one a piece.
The start of the third set was nearly identical to the second, with CSB falling behind 10-9. The Blazers continued to trail the Storm, eventually losing 25-18.
In spite of a 13-6 deficit in the fourth set, CSB never lost hope, catching Simpson at 19 and surpassing them to force the match into a fifth set with a final score of 25-22.
The Blazers began with a 7-2 run, but couldn't hang on to their lead as the Storm tied the set at 10. The score then tied at 11, 12, 13, and 14, but the Simpson outlast CSB, edging them 16-14.

Calleigh Brown (Buffalo, MN, Buffalo) led the team with 12 kills, while sophomore outside hitter
Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forrest Lake) contributed 10 kills. Senior setter
Beth Hanson (Faribault, MN, Bethlehem Academy) had 40 set assists for the Blazers. Senior outside hitter
Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, MN, Hibbing) added 15 digs as senior libero
Andrea Millerbernd (Littlefork, MN, Littlefork-Big Falls) had 12 digs.
CSB finished the Puget Sound Invite 1-3.. Jaynes was named to the All-Tournament team and was voted the tournament Most Valuable Player.
The Blazers next travel to the Augsburg Tournament on Fri., Sept. 11 and Sat., Sept. 12. They first face Northwestern at 4 p.m. on Friday. Watch the Blazer website for more updates on the tournament.
