The College of Saint Benedict Blazers soccer team (0-0 MIAC, 2-1-1 overall) handed the University of Dubuque (0-0 IIAC, 4-1 overall) their first loss of the season in a 1-0 victory in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers and Knights were locked in a tight contest until first-year forward/midfielder Jess Pellegrene (Maple Grove, MN, Totino-Grace) scored the lone goal of the game at the 65 minute mark.  She was assisted by sophomore defender Sami Meyman (Inver Grove Heights, MN, Simley).

Junior goalkeeper Maija Maija Schmelzer (Rochester, MN, John Marshall) earned the win at the net for Saint Benedict.
