The College of Saint Benedict Blazers(0-0 MIAC, 3-1 overall) shut out Whitman College (0-0 NWC, 1-1 overall) 2-0 Saturday, September 6th in Claremont, Calif.  Temperature highs reaching the mid 90's proved to be no obstacle for the Blazers.  Goals were scored by senior Rachel Loftus (Savage, MN, Academy of Holy Angels) and sophomore Chelsi Larson (Minnesota City, MN, Cotter ).

The Blazers' put up a tough battle, but were defeated in double overtime by the University of Redlands (0-0 SCIAC, 1-1-0 overall) 2-1.  Senior Tina Lisk (Louisville, CO, Monarch) scored for the Blazers in the second half.  Lisk dribbled through three players and smoked the ball past the goalkeeper.  The second half was solid play for both teams with more opportunities created for the Blazers than in the first.

"I would have to say they were the best team we have played so far this season.  It was good for us to step up and compete." Coach Kate McNeil said.

The College of Saint Benedict will take on the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday, September 10th, at 4:00 p.m
