The College of Saint Benedict Blazers (6-3 MIAC, 12-4 overall) defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils (5-9-3 overall) today 3-2 in a non conference match up in Menomonie, Wisc.  The Blazers created and finished many opportunities, outshooting the Blue Devils 25 to 10.

The Blue Devils scored early in the first half with an unassisted goal, but the Blazers tied the score up at the 30:41 mark, after senior Annie Haws (Avon, MN, Saint John's Prepatory ) penalty kick.  Unsatisifed with a split score going into halftime, senior Sam Vanderlinde (Maple Plain, MN , Watertown-Mayer ) fired in a shot with 41 seconds left in the first half for the lead.  At the 46:13 mark, the Blue Devils challenged the score 2-2 with a penalty goal, but the Blazers sealed the deal at the 72:34 mark after senior Kelly Suter (Plymouth, MN, Totino-Grace) clutch goal, with the assist credited to senior Kate Shaughnessy (St. Louis Park, MN , St. Louis Park ).  Junior goalkeeper Shannon Strohm (Burnsville, MN, Apple Valley ) had four saves for the Blazers.

The Blazers will face another MIAC challenger on Saturday, October 25th, taking on the Augsburg College Auggies at 1 p.m. in Minneapolis, Minn.
