The College of Saint Benedict Blazers (6-3 MIAC, 11-4 overall) pushed their winning streak to five today, after beating the Saint Mary's University Cardnials (0-10 MIAC, 4-10-1 overall) 4-0 in Winona, Minn. The Blazers scored three of their four goals in the second half.
Senior forward Tina Lisk (Louisville, CO, Monarch) made a lasting impression on the field, assisting fellow senior Allyson Draxler (Plymouth, MN , Benilde-St. Margaret's ) in the game's first goal at the 34:17 mark. Lisk is also credible for two of the four Blazer goals, scoring at the 71:36 mark, passed from senior Kate Shaughnessy (St. Louis Park, MN , St. Louis Park ), and no more than four minutes later, at the 74:50 mark, assist from junior Alison Tourville (Plymouth, MN , Robbinsdale Armstrong ). Tourville also contributed to the score in the second half in the sixtieth minute. Tourville was assisted by senior Kelly Suter (Plymouth, MN, Totino-Grace). Sophomore goalkeeper Maija Schmelzer (Rochester, MN, John Marshall) rejected eight Cardinal shots on goal.
The Blazers will return to the field tomorrow, taking on the University of Wisconsin-Stout at 3 p.m. in Menomonie, Wisc.
