The College of Saint Benedict Blazers (5-3 MIAC, 9-4 overall) defeated the College of Saint Catherine Wildcats (3-4 MIAC, 6-6-1 overall) today 1-0 in St. Joseph, Minn. The Blazers have defeated and shut out six of their last seven opponents.
The game proved to be an aggressive one right off the bat. At the 22:37 mark, the Blazers scored off senior midfielder Annie Haws's (Avon, MN, Saint John's Prepatory ) penalty kick, which was the clutch for the win. The Wildcats put up no shots in the second half, and the Blazer defense allowed only one shot on goal in the first, saved by sophomore goalkeeper Maija Schmelzer (Rochester, MN, John Marshall).
The Blazers will play Loras College at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn. tomorrow at 1 p.m.
