Three players scored their first goal of the season for the College of Saint Benedict hockey team Saturday afternoon, but one stood out above the rest.
 
Kaitlyn Miller, a captain for the College of Saint Benedict hockey team, scored the first goal of her senior season against Northland College to lift CSB to its first win of the year. For her timely goal, Miller is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.
 
Miller scored the winning goal with 52 seconds left in overtime to help Saint Benedict to a 4-3 win. Saturday’s game marked the third overtime contest of the year for CSB. Miller also had another shot at the net during the second period. The winning goal was Miller’s first goal of the season and the second of her career. She now has seven shots at the net so far this season, and one game-winning goal.
 
Miller’s teammates, Mollie Wise and Maddie Dockry, also both scored their first goals of the season on Saturday to help bring CSB the win. The team is off now until Jan. 5-6 when its play Marian and UW-Stevens Point in a tournament in St. Paul. CSB heads to Europe Dec. 27-Jan 4 where it will tour Sweden and Finland.
