College of Saint Benedict Athletics

Madison Weiss picked a good time to step up her game for the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team.
 
Madison Weiss, a first-year middle blocker, finished the week with 41 kills and 17 total blocks. This helped the team to finish 4-1 and improve their overall record of 5-5. Weiss is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week because of her phenomenal performance in her matches over the past week.
 
On Wednesday against St. Kate’s, Weiss had 11 kills and a .579 hitting percentage to help the team start its MIAC season with a 3-1 win. In non-conference play against St. Olaf at the River Falls tournament, Weiss added a career-high of 14 kills and four block assists to win 3-1.
 
In five matches last week, Weiss had a .305 hitting percentage and averaged 1.00 blocks per set. She now leads the MIAC in blocks per set as a first year.
 
Weiss and her teammates return to MIAC action Wednesday, Sept. 20, when they travel to St. Paul to take on No. 23 St. Thomas at 7 p.m.
