ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict cross country team faced a tough field this weekend at the Tori Neubauer Invite.
The meet, which is traditionally one of the toughest on the Blazers’ schedule, featured 22 teams and more than 300 runners from NCAA Division to Division III. CSB was up to the challenge, however, and thanks to some big performances, the Blazers finished in the top five.
Leading the way for Saint Benedict were sophomore Brooke Rasmussen and senior Kiley Green. Both runners finished in the top 20 for the Blazers to help CSB finish fifth out of 22 teams. For their performance over the weekend, Rasmussen and Green have been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.
Rasmussen and Green both recorded career-bests at Saturday’s 6K race to help lead the Blazers. Rasmussen finished 15
th overall in 22:43, and Green finished 20
th in 22:56. The duo finished in the top 20 out of 324 total runners, and the personal bests helped CSB finish ahead of five MIAC schools.
Saturday marked the third top-20 finish for Green this season and the fourth for Rasmussen. Rasmussen won the Crown Invite, took 11
th in Notre Dame and sixth at the Carleton Invite. Green finished fourth at Crown and eighth at Carleton, and also recorded a top-35 finish after taking 34
th at Notre Dame.
Saturday’s race marked the final warm up for Rasmussen, Green and the Blazers before the MIAC Championship race, which is at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in St. Paul, Minn. Rasmussen finished 20
th at least year’s conference championships and earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention and Green took 43
rd.
