ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Fiona Rosko wrapped up her first season with the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team with a bang over the weekend.
Rosko, a sophomore transfer from Millikin University (Ill.) and a California native, set one program record and finished the two-day meet with three individual times in the top 10 in CSB history and was also a part of one relay that moved into the program’s top 10. For her big weekend, Rosko – who also won three individual events – is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.
Rosko picked up two wins Saturday in the first day of the St. Kate’s Quad, which also included the Wildcats, Hamline and Augsburg and took place at the U of M Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. Her first win was also a school record, and bested the previous record by nearly three seconds.
Rosko finished first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:22.34 – more than two-and-a-half seconds faster than the previous CSB record of 2:25.10, set in 2013 by Maria Gathje. In her second individual swim of the day, Rosko picked up her second win, this time in the 200 fly. She finished in 2:11.44, the second-best time in school history. Rosko was also part of the 400 medley relay team that recorded the third-best time in program history Saturday afternoon. She, Mikayla Von Wahlde, Jessica Milstroh and Emi Wagner finished second in the race in 3:59.65.
That wasn’t it for Rosko, however. After two wins and three top-10 times in school history Saturday, she added one more win and two more top-10 times Sunday afternoon. She moved into sixth in program history in the 400 IM in 4:42.10, and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.05 – the seventh-best time in CSB history.
The three wins over the weekend bring Rosko’s total to four on the season as she also picked up a win in a dual-meet loss to Gustavus. The weekend meet in Minneapolis ended the 2021 season for the team, which is hopeful for a full season – including MIAC Championships and the chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships – in 2021-22.
