Rachel Nelson had a big week in the circle as the Blazer softball team closed the week in Florida with 6-2 mark.
The junior pitcher went 2-1 with a save in her five appearances, highlighted by her complete-game, eight-inning, 2-1 win over Loras. Against the Duhawks, Nelson struck out 15 batters, including the final out of a perfect eighth to close out the win. She also came in one day earlier against Kalamazoo in relief, and threw three shutout innings for the save, striking out five of the nine batters she faced.
On the week, she pitched 26 innings, striking out 22, while allowing just five earned runs.
