Joel Makem Ratzinger-Season-Career Results
2024: INDOOR: Competed in six meets, recording six top-eight finishes … competed in the MIAC Indoor Championships in the pentathlon, scoring 1818 points and setting career-bests in the 800 (2:49.28) and the 60H (10.83) ... took 3
rd place in the 800 at the Cobber Indoor Open with a time of 2:52.41 … set a career-best in the long jump, taking 4
th place with a mark of 4.26 (13’11.75”), took 7
th place in the 60H (11.42), and took 8
th place in the 800 (2:57.51) at the CSB/SJU Alumni Meet … set a career-best in the shot put with a mark of 9.23m (30’3.5”) at the CSB/SJU Invitational … set a career-best in the high jump, taking 8
th place with a mark of 1.25m (4’1.25”) at the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic.
High School: A 2023 graduate of Shakopee High School, Makem Ratzinger participated in wrestling for five years and track and field for five years. Her accomplishments in wrestling include, earning All-American Awards in 2019 and Letter Awards from 2019-2023, being a State Champion in 2022 and 2023, and earning All-Conference distinctions in 2023. The proudest moment of her track and field career was when she set a PR in the hurdles after three consecutive races with no progress.
Personal: The daughter of Victorine Ngwi Akufongwe and Michel Georges Makem, Joel likes to bake, volunteer, hike, bike, and play sports in her free time. She is a Biochemistry and Exercise and Health Science major on the Pre-Med track at CSB/SJU. Joel likes being a collegiate student-athlete because it helps her to stay on top of her school work and gives her a second family that she can both go to for help and extend her help towards.
