INDOOR: Competed in five meets ... finished in 8th place in the CSB/SJU Alumni Meet with a time of 12:56.06 ... set a career-best in the mile at the Gopher Classic with a time of 6:15.79, set a 3000 meter career best at the CSB/SJU Invitational with a time of 12:46.48, earning 9th place.
High School: Burshem is a 2022 graduate of Maple Grove High School where she participated in cross country for 2 years, swimming for 3 years, Nordic skiing for 3 years, and track & field for 5 years. She also swam in the NHCP and Lifetime swim clubs. She earned the Nordic Skiing Grace Heitzig Award in 2020 and the 2021 Crimson Award in track & field. The proudest moment of her career was dropping time in a 2 mile race despite falling during the race.
Personal: Avya is the daughter of Jill Schierholz and Reed Burshem, and has six siblings, Jay, Micah, Emery, Elsie, Leo, and Violet. She is pursuing an Exercise and Health Science major, and in her free time she enjoys making bracelets, biking, hiking, traveling, swimming, and thrifting. Ayva is excited to being a part of a community that shares similar interests and goals as her.
