High School: A 2010 graduate of Bloomington Jefferson High School, Gathje was coached by Suzanne Lancey and participated in swimming (four years) and basketball (four years). She was an All-Conference Honorable Mention in swimming and captain of the basketball team. Gathje was a female scholar athlete of the year at Bloomington Jefferson and a letter winner in swimming and basketball.

Personal: Gathje is the daughter of Jeanne and Jim Gathje of Bloomington, Minn. She enjoys swimming, basketball, going to the cabin and spending time with friends. Gathje is majoring in mathematics.
