Cross country teams around the MIAC - including the College of Saint Benedict cross country team - were the varsity sports teams most affected by the COVID19 pandemic and the league's decision to push fall sports to the spring season.
The 2020 cross country season was pushed to mid-March in the weeks between the end of the indoor track and field season and the start of the outdoor season. Due to the demands of training for track and field, the Bennies competed in just one cross country race - but they made the most of it.
Fiona Smith, Tracy Renier, Claire Iversen and Krystiana Connelly all competed at the St. Kate's Relay in mid-March. Smith and Renier teamed up and Iversen and Connelly ran together as each runner ran a 1.4-mile loop twice to make up a two-person, 5.6-mile race. Smith and Renier won the event, which took place on the St. Kate's campus.
