2015-16 Cross Country Review

The College of Saint Benedict cross country team proved once again that it belongs at the top of the MIAC in 2015.

CSB finished fourth at the MIAC Championships in October – its fifth straight top-five finish at the MIAC meet – and recorded several big performances throughout the year. CSB took fifth at both the National Catholic Invite and the Tori Neubauer Invite, with both featured more than 20 teams. Sophomore Brooke Rasmussen finished in the top 50 to lead CSB at the National Catholic Invite, where it took fifth out of 25 teams in the college division.

Saint Benedict took fifth out of 22 teams at Tori Neubauer thanks to a pair of top-20 finishes and five runners I the top 60. CSB also took second at Carleton and kicked off the year by winning the Crown College Invite.

At the MIAC Championships, all five of CSB’s top runners finished in the top 30, led by Rasmussen, who fini9012shed 10th. She earned All-MIAC honors and senior Kiley Green (18th) and Mattia Hendrickson (22nd) earned honorable mention accolades. Cathleen Gross was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Rasmussen also earned All-Region honors and helped lead Saint Benedict to a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Central Region meet.

Throughout the course of the year, Rasmussen recorded both the fifth-best 6K time in school history and the 10th-best 5K time. Green ran the sixth-best 6K time and 13th-best 5K time, and Emma Weber finished the year tied for the 10th-bset 6K time and the 20th-best 5K time.

As a team, CSB earned USTFCCCA Team All-Academic honors for the 20th straight year with a GPA of 3.569. Green and Rasmussen were both honored individually by the USTFCCCA.

Rasmussen earned team MVP honors at the end of the year, and Hendrickson was named CSB’s Most Improved. Senior Sam Womeldorf won the Coach’s Award.
