1994 Cross Country Review

1994 Season Review

The Blazer cross country team hitched their dreams to the stars and rode them all the way to Bethlehem — that’s Bethlehem, Pa. After finishing in second place in the MIAC championships for only the second time ever, CSB qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in Bethlehem, Pa., by edging out Luther College by one point to finish in third place at the NCAA Central Regionals. In their first appearance at the national meet the Blazers finished in 13th place with 295 points among a field of 21 teams. First-year runner Missy Petersen, Sartell, Minn., posted a second-place finish in the conference meet and a third place at nationals.

In a season full of highlights CSB finished in third place out of 29 teams at the UW-LaCrosse Invitational and a sixth-place finish at the Nike Invitational held at the University of Minnesota.

Many times success follows success and if that is true, the Blazers may be ready to take the next step towards a first-ever conference championship next season since only two runners graduates this year.
