1987 Season Review
The 1987 cross country season was the best in the school's four year cross country history. The Blazers, under the direction of first-year head coach Laura Brewer, finished the fall season tied for fifth in the MIAC.
The cross country squad competed at seven meets during the season including the St. John's Invitational. The Blazers finished one point ahead of Gustavus Adolphus to win the five team SJU Invitational. Saint Benedict's then finished second at the eight team Minnesota-Duluth Invitational. Next, the Blazers competed at the Northwester Invitational and finished fifth out of 11 teams at the Ele Hanson Carleton Invitational. The Blazers then defeated Hamline in a dual meet and tied for fifth with Gustavus in the MIAC meet to end an outstanding season.
The top five harriers at the MIAC meet were Michelle Thomke form St. Paul, MN, the squad's outstanding senior runner; senior Carrie Bossenmaier, the squad's most valuable runner from St. Paul; Sue Lindell, the squad's top junior runner form New Hope,MN; freshman Robin Balder from Foley, MN and Maria Morgan, a freshman from Elmore, MN.
