2003 Season Review

Returning all of their top runners from last season, the Blazers looked to improve and advance on last year’s quality season.

Sophomore Leah Wurm turned heads within the first three meets of the season.  Wurm finished all three meets ahead of the pack in first place.  As a team, CSB also won the first three meets of the year, and finished second at the Midwest Challenge.  During the season Saint Ben’s was ranked as high as 23rd in the Nation.

At the MIAC Championship, the Blazers notched a fifth place finish on November 2, at Como Park.  Wurm led the way for CSB with a fifth place overall finish, the same spot in which she finished just a year ago.

Saint Ben’s then went to Grinnell, Iowa to face off in the NCAA Regionals in hopes of advancing to the NCAA National spotlight.  CSB finished fifth of the 23 teams with 156 team points.  Wurm was the dominator for the Blazers with a 14th place finish in a time of 22:52.

Senior runner Cindy Blenderman and Wurm earned MIAC all-conference for the season.
