1992 Cross Country Review

1992 Season Review

The Blazers cross country team may have surprised a few other MIAC schools last fall when they knocked on the door of a conference championship, but not head coach Margaret Gehring and her team.  With a good mixture of experience and youth, CSB climbed from fifth place in 1991 to second place in 1992.   The cross country program continues to improve each season under Gehring's direction.

Senior Katy Deignan, Monroe, Wis., and first year runners Sheila Eldred, St. Paul, MN, and Krissy Wendlandt, Garden City, MN, were All-MIAC selections.  Deignan went on to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships and finished 46th overall.  Following the conference meet the Blazers had their sights set on earning their first team national championship invitation, but came up a little short when they finished in fifth place at the NCAA Central Regions.

Other season highlights included a pair second place finishes at the Saint John's Invitational and the National Catholic Championships.
