Golf Opens Season Hosting CSB Invite

Two-day tournament to take place at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course

09/04/2026

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict golf team will open its 2026-27 season at home, as the Bennies host the CSB Invite Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 5-6, with both rounds occurring at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. Saturday's round will begin with tee times at 11 a.m., while Sunday will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Saint Benedict is one of eight teams in the field, which features five other Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) institutions. St. Olaf College, Macalester College, Gustavus Adolphus College, Concordia College, and The College of St. Scholastica will join CSB to represent the MIAC institutions participating, while University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and Alexandria Technical and Community College will also make the trip to round out the field.

The tournament will mark the head coaching debut of Mark Krueger, who was elevated into the role in May 2026 after serving as an assistant the past two seasons. Krueger assumed the head coaching role after helping guide the Bennies to one of the program's strongest MIAC Championship performances in recent years. CSB recorded a three-round total of 962 (329-309-320), its best finish at the conference championship since 2017-18 and highest placement since finishing runner-up in 2018. He also helped oversee a season in which the Bennies set three school scoring records. In his two seasons as an assistant coach, Krueger helped three Bennies earn All-MIAC honors and one MIAC All-Championship Team honoree.

The Bennies roster will feature four new faces this weekend. First-years Hallie Johnson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing), Jenna Owen (Cold Spring, Minn./Roccori) and Lillias Savageau (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis) will make their collegiate debuts, while sophomore transfer Layla Mathews (Becker, Minn./Becker) will represent Saint Benedict for the first time.

All 11 Saint Benedict golfers will play in the home tournament. Both rounds can be followed along via Clippd, which can be found here.
