ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict athletic department celebrated the accomplishments of the 2025-26 athletic year in May with its annual student-athlete celebration. Twelve Bennies were announced as finalists for the annual CSB Athlete of the Year award, presented to the top athlete of the season in each sport.
Attacker
Sami Hackley '26 (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) was named CSB lacrosse's finalist for the honor.
Hackley capped her career with her fourth All-Conference honor and second from the WIAC. She ranked fourth in the conference in goals per game (3.08) and shots per game (6.33). She was also seventh in the WIAC in points per game (4.29).
She played and started in 12 games, scoring 47 points on 37 goals and 10 assists. She was CSB's leader in goals, points, shots on goal (56), free-position goals (6) and game-winning goals (2). Hackley scored a point in all but two games and became the first player in program history to eclipse 200-career points, a feat she accomplished with a five-point game vs. Wisconsin-Stout.
One of CSB lacrosse's founding players, she finished her career as the program leader for goals (168) and points (207).
The Bennies (6-7, 4-4 WIAC) finished fifth in the WIAC and earned their second-consecutive berth to the conference playoffs where they fell to UW-Eau Claire in the quarterfinals. Five players earned All-WIAC honors and first-year midfielder
Rayna Malmberg (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) was named the WIAC Newcomer of the Year.
