NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict track and field team, competing with a small contingent, had a solid effort at the St. Olaf Ole Open on Saturday, highlighted by a standout performance from senior
Jaylyn Ahlberg (Shoreview, Minn.).
Ahlberg posted a season-best mark of 3.65 meters (11-11.75) to win the pole vault, a height that ranks 40th in NCAA Division III.
Sophomore
Allison Banse (Mankato, Minn.) added a top-three finish in the field events, placing third in the shot put with a throw of 12.21 meters (40-00.75).
On the track, junior
Bailey Link (Brush, Colo.) recorded a personal-best time of 2:26.93 to finish sixth in the 800 meters. Senior
Eva Creighton (St. Paul, Minn.) followed with a season-best effort of 5:11.87 to place seventh in the 1,500 meters.
In the hammer throw, junior
Christian Smith (Nassau, Bahamas) led the Bennies with a sixth-place finish at 37.88 meters (124-03), while first-year
Quinn Paulsen (Waconia, Minn.) was close behind in seventh at 37.59 meters (123-04).
Next for the CSB track and field team will compete in the MIAC Track and Field Championships on May 8-9 in Northfield, Minn.
