ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict track and field team continues its outdoor season Wednesday, April 29, at the Joe Sweeney Invitational, hosted by the University of St. Thomas at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in Saint Paul, Minn.

Following this week, CSB will compete at the MIAC multi-event competition on April 30-May 1 at Laird Stadium in Northfield, Minn. The MIAC Championships will be held on May 8-9 in Northfield, Minn., at Klein Field - Manitou.
Season Review
Bennies shine at CSB/SJU Optimistic Invitational
Saint Benedict opened the outdoor season in strong fashion, capturing two relay titles — including a meet record — and posting 18 top-five finishes despite cold, windy conditions at Clemens Stadium.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor Dean (Hutchinson, Minn.), Lauren Berg (Bemidji, Minn.), Anna Schottler (Chanhassen, Minn.) and Macy Piechowski (Winona, Minn.) set a meet record with a winning time of 4:06.31. Another quartet of Taylor Radaich (Prior Lake, Minn.), Anabella Witschen (Monticello, Minn.), Tiffany Dean (Hutchinson, Minn.) and Brooke Verkinnes (St. Cloud, Minn.) placed fifth (4:18.07).
The Bennies also claimed the 4x100-meter relay as Grace Buntrock (Rochester, Minn.), Anna Gries (Minneapolis, Minn.), Myah Nelson (Brainerd, Minn.) and Bella Lund (Mound, Minn.) won in 50.69. Lund added a runner-up finish in the 100 meters (12.58) and placed fourth in the 200 (26.77), just ahead of Allee Feldman (Buffalo, Minn.), who took fifth (26.92). Schottler impressed in her collegiate debut with a second-place finish in the 400 (59.44).
In the field events, Allison Banse (Mankato, Minn.) placed second in the shot put (11.98m / 39-3.75), while Sabriya Farquharson (Nassau, Bahamas) was second in the long jump (5.45m / 17-10.75). Juslene Chea (St. Michael, Minn.) led CSB in the 100-meter hurdles with a fifth-place finish (16.49).
Saint Benedict dominated the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sweeping the top six spots, led by Daphne Grobstein (Golden Valley, Minn.) and Lauren Masica (Orono, Minn.).
Bennies win four titles at Hamline Invitational
CSB followed with four event titles and 17 top-five finishes. Jaylyn Ahlberg (Shoreview, Minn.) won the pole vault with a season-best 3.35m (10-11.75), while Lili Raidt (Waconia, Minn.) matched the height for second and McKenna Flinn (Redwood Valley, Minn.) took fourth (3.20m / 10-6).
Farquharson captured the triple jump (11.01m / 36-1.50), with Gries second and Hannah Scharnberg (Fergus Falls, Minn.) fourth. Mary Kenney (St. Paul, Minn.) led a dominant steeplechase performance, winning in 11:23.42 as CSB claimed six of the top seven spots.
Kiera Stommes (Eden Valley, Minn.) won the high jump (1.53m / 5-0.25), while Parker Pollis (Richfield, Minn.) and Emily Koch (Otsego, Minn.) placed second and third in the javelin. The 4x100 relay (Buntrock, Gries, Nelson, Lund) placed second (50.03), Berg took fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:05.04), and Dean added a fourth-place finish in the 800 (2:24.00).
Ahlberg, Berg lead at Gene Glader Classic
The Bennies recorded 12 top-six and 16 top-eight finishes. Berg posted a season-best 1:03.37 in the 400 hurdles (No. 19 in Division III), while Chea ran a personal-best 15.46 in the 100 hurdles.
Kenney (11:20.41) and Grobstein (11:37.88) led the steeplechase group, while Schottler (59.40) and Dean (1:00.84) added personal bests in the 400.
In field events, Banse threw a season-best 36.37m (119-4) in the discus, while Stommes led three Bennies clearing 1.53m in the high jump. Pollis placed fifth in the javelin, and Ahlberg took second in the pole vault (3.51m / 11-6.25).
CSB wins CSB/SJU Invitational
Saint Benedict closed its home schedule with the team title (206.5 points), recording four event wins, 12 runner-up finishes and 38 top-eight performances.
Ahlberg won the pole vault (3.55m / 11-7.75), ranking No. 44 in Division III, while Raidt placed second. Banse posted a personal-best 12.61m (41-4.50) in the shot put — third-best in program history.
Morgan Hanlin (Red Wing, Minn.) led the long jump group with a third-place finish, while Chea placed fourth. Chea also took second in the triple jump (10.93m / 35-10.50). Berg won the 400 hurdles (1:03.10), and Chea added a runner-up finish in the 100 hurdles (15.16), a top-10 mark in program history.
Witschen led five Bennies in the top seven of the steeplechase, followed by Julia Babineau (Andover, Minn.) and Addisyn Giles (Belle Plaine, Minn.).
Bennies capture Rider/Bolsdorff Invitational
Saint Benedict continued its strong run by winning the Janis Rider/Doug Bolsdorff Invitational with 163 points, finishing ahead of Concordia-St. Paul and Carleton.
CSB totaled six event titles, six runner-up finishes and 25 top-five performances. The 4x400 relay team of Taylor Dean, Radaich, Schottler and Witschen took first (4:10.86), while the 4x100 relay opened with a runner-up finish.
Chea won the 100 hurdles (15.28), leading three Bennies in the top six. Gries captured the long jump with a career-best 5.56m (18-3), while Farquharson won the triple jump (11.00m / 36-1.25).
Lund posted a personal-best 12.58 in the 100 for second place and added a third-place finish in the 200 (26.36). Radaich and Witschen recorded personal bests in the 800, while Kenney took second in the 1,500 (4:49.89).
In the field events, Reese Laposky (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) placed fifth in the javelin, while Banse took fourth in the shot put (12.55m / 41-2.25). Ahlberg finished second in the pole vault, and Drea Terwedo (LeSueur, Minn.) led the high jump group with a runner-up finish.
Indoor Season Recap
The Bennies are coming off a fifth-place finish (76.5 points) at the MIAC Indoor Championships, highlighted by six All-MIAC performances. Ahlberg won the pole vault title (3.53m), while Raidt tied for second. Chea (55 hurdles) and Banse (shot put) earned runner-up and third-place finishes, respectively, and Farquharson posted top-three finishes in both horizontal jumps.
Additional honorable mention All-MIAC honors went to Berg (600, 800), Stommes (high jump), Flinn (pole vault) and Chea (triple jump), rounding out a balanced indoor campaign for Saint Benedict.
