ST. PAUL, Minn. – Led by
Jaylyn Ahlberg (2
nd, pole vault) and
Lauren Berg (3
rd, 400-meter hurdles), the College of Saint Benedict track and field team had another solid outing at the Gene
Glader Invitational. At the Sports and Recreation Center at Bethel, the
Bennies had 12 top-six finishes and 16 top-eight placings.
Senior
Lauren Berg (
Bemidji, Minn.) had a season-best and the No. 19 best clocking in the 400-meter hurdles by clocking 1:03.37.
In the 100 meter hurdles, first-year
Juslene Chea (St. Michael, Minn.) placed fifth with a personal-best of 15.46.
The
Bennies placed two in the top seven in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, led by senior
Mary Kenney with a season best of 11:20.41 to place fourth, a mark that is 29
th in DIII. First year
Daphne Grobstein (Golden Valley, Minn.) was seventh in a personal-best of 11:37.88, a mark that ranks 68
th in
DIII.
In the 400-meter , first-year standouts
Anna Schottler (
Chanhassen, Minn.), 59.40, sixth, and
Taylor Dean (Hutchinson, Minn.), 1.00.84, ninth, had personal bests.
In the discus throw, sophomore
Allison Banse (Mankato, Minn.) had a season best 36.37m – 119-04 to place seventh. Base was also eighth in the shot put at 11.34m – 37-02.50.
Also in field events, the
Bennies placed three in the top six of the high jump, led by
Kiera Stommes (Eden Valley, Minn.) with a personal best of 1.53m-5-00.25 for second place. First-year
Ariana Maurer (St. Louis, Mo.) `also went 1.53m – 5-00.25 for fourth place. In sixth place
Drea Terwedo (
LeSueur, Minn.) was sixth at 1.53m – 5.0025.
In the javelin throw sophomore
Parker Pollis (Richfield, Minn.) was fifth at 32.57m – 106-10. The
Bennies placed two in the top eight of the pole vault, led by senior
Jaylyn Ahlberg (
Shoreview, Minn.) at 3.51m – 11-06.25 – the 48
th best vault as she placed second. Junior
Lili Raidt (
Waconia, Minn.) was eighth in the vault by going 3.36m – 11-00.25.
The
Bennies had two in the top eight of the triple jump, led by
Sabriya Farquharson at (Nassau, Bahamas) 10.63m – 34-10.50. In eighth was first-year
Hannah Scharnberg (Fergus Falls, Minn.), eighth, at 10.38m – 34-00.75.
The
Bennies placed fourth in the 4x100 meter relay, clocking 49.73 with a squad of
Grace Buntrock (Rochester, Minn.),
Anna Gries (Minneapolis, Minn.),
Myah Nelson (Brainerd, Minn.) and
Bella Lund (Mound, Minn.).
Next for CSB will be CSB/SJU Invitational on April 18 at Clemens Stadium.
