CSB Tennis rolls to 5-2 nonconference victory over Northwestern-St. Paul

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Behind four singles victories and a sweep in doubles, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team (4-5) secured its second straight win with a 5-2 nonconference decision over Northwestern–St. Paul (6-13) on Saturday.

The Bennies set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with wins in all three matches. At No. 1, Ellie Huber (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Marie Labenski (Northfield, Minn.) battled to a 7-6 (7-2) victory over Rein Hayashi and Sarah Langridge. The No. 2 tandem of Allyson Yahn (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and Ella Marohl (St. Cloud, Minn.) added a 6-4 win, while Lila Collins (Brainerd, Minn.) and Claire Erdal (Brainerd, Minn.) completed the sweep with a 6-2 decision at No. 3.

In singles play, CSB dropped a pair of tight match tiebreakers at the top two spots before rallying to win the final four matches. Hayashi edged Huber at No. 1, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4), and Langridge outlasted Marohl at No. 2, 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-4).
