ORLANDO, Fla. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team (2-3) was defeated 7-0 by Hamilton College (4-1) on Thursday during its spring break trip.
Hamilton secured the doubles point with wins at all three positions. At No. 1, Priyanka Challapalli and Hannah Walpole posted a 6-2 win over Ellie Huber (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Marie Labenski (Northfield, Minn.). At No. 2, Grace Qian and Farah Mona defeated Allyson Yahn (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) and Ella Marohl (St. Cloud, Minn.), 6-3. At No. 3, Samantha Rainero and Muhan Cui recorded a 6-3 victory over Lila Collins (Brainerd, Minn.) and Claire Erdal (Brainerd, Minn.).
In singles, Hamilton claimed all six matches in straight sets. At No. 1, Hannah Walpole defeated Huber, 6-2, 6-1. Priyanka Challapalli earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Marohl at No. 2, while Samantha Rainero defeated Yahn (Pequot Lakes, Minn.), 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.
At No. 4, Mona topped Collins, 6-3, 6-2. Sara Rock defeated Labenski, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and at No. 6, Kaitlyn Rahne (Hutchinson, Minn.) fell, 6-1, 6-2.
Saint Benedict will close its spring break trip with a match against Franklin and Marshall at 10 a.m. Friday in Orlando, Fla.
