MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Led by a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay and a pair of top-three performances from junior
Sabriya Farquharson, the College of Saint Benedict indoor track and field team continued its strong early-season momentum at the Gopher Classic on Saturday.
Overall, the Bennies recorded 16 top-eight finishes across relay, track and field events at the competition held in the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
Farqharson delivered two standout performances in the horizontal jumps. The junior from Nassau, Bahamas, finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.39m (17-08.25), the second-best indoor jump of her career and currently ranked No. 65 in NCAA Division III this season. She also placed third in the triple jump with a season-best 11.19m (36-08.50), the second-best indoor mark of her career and No. 33 nationally.

In the hurdles,
Juslene Chea (St. Michael, Minn.) continued her consistent season, placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.13. Chea also finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 5.05m (16-07.00) and she was seventh in the triple jump at 10"52m (34-06.25) while sophomore
Anna Gries (Minneapolis, Minn.) was eighth with a season-best 10.46m (34-04.00).
On the track, Berg placed seventh in the 600 meters in 1:38.46. Junior
Julia Babineau (Andover, Minn.) posted a season-best 5:34.20 to finish sixth in the unseeded one-mile run, while senior
Natalie Zielsdorf (Arden Hills, Minn.) was ninth in 5:45.00. In the collegiate mile,
Daphne Grobstein (Golden Valley, Minn.) finished 11th in 5:30.89.
CSB placed three athletes in the top eight of the unseeded 3,000 meters. Junior
Abby Bufkin (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded a season-best 11:28.46, senior
Rachel Olinger (Rosemount, Minn.) finished sixth with a personal-best 11:30.18, and senior
Tatum Leibke (Lino Lakes, Minn.) was eighth in a personal-best 11:32.92. In the collegiate 3,000 meters, senior
Mary Kenney (Saint Paul, Minn.) placed 10th with a season-best 10:41.46.
First-year
Taylor Dean (Hutchinson, Minn.) added a personal-best performance in the 400 meters, finishing 13th in 1:02.35, the top placing among CSB competitors. In the 800 meters, Witschen led the Bennies with a 15th-place finish in 2:27.32.
In the field events, junior
Anna Kemp (New Prague, Minn.) led a strong showing in the high jump, placing fourth with a season-best clearance of 1.50m (4-11.00). Sophomore
Kiera Stommes (Eden Valley, Minn.) also cleared 1.50m (4-11.00), junior Drew Terwedo (LeSueur, Minn.) was seventh at 1.45m (4-09.00), and first-year
Reese Laposky (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) finished eighth at the same height.
In the pole vault, sophomore
McKenna Flinn (Redwood Valley, Minn.) led the Bennies with a ninth-place finish at 3.32m (10-10.75).

Allison Banse (Mankato, Minn.) rounded out CSB's field highlights with a seventh-place finish in the shot put, recording a season-best and indoor career-best mark of 12.19m (40-00.00).
CSB returns home next to host the CSB+SJU Invitational at the Donald McNeely Spectrum in Collegeville, Minn., on Saturday, Feb. 14.
