NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict track and field team capped a strong weekend with one event title and six All-MIAC honors, finishing fifth at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded Saturday at Carleton Recreation Center.
After earning three All-MIAC honors on Friday—highlighted by a pole vault championship from three-time indoor titlist
Jaylyn Ahlberg (Shoreview, Minn.)—the Bennies added three more All-MIAC performances on the final day of competition.
First-year
Juslene Chea (St. Michael, Minn.) continued her breakout season with a runner-up finish in the 55-meter hurdles, clocking 8.45 in the final after setting a new school record of 8.34 in the prelims, eclipsing the previous mark of 8.54 (Molly Miller) set in 2002.
Sophomore
Allison Banse (Mankato, Minn.) earned All-MIAC honors in the shot put with a third-place finish. Her personal-best throw of 12.68 meters (41-7.25) ranks third all-time in program history and places her 68th in DIII this season.
Junior
Sabriya Farquharson (Nassau, Bahamas) collected her second All-MIAC honor of the championship by placing third in the long jump with a season-best leap of 5.43 meters (17-9.75). She also finished second in the triple jump.
Lauren Berg (Bemidji, Minn.) finish fourth in the 600-meter with a season-best time of 1:36.80, the 23rd-fastest time in Division III this season and just off her school record of 1:36.28. First-year
Taylor Dean posted a personal-best 1:39.17, ranking 60th nationally and eighth in school history. Sophomore
Kiera Stommes (Eden Valley, Minn.) added a fourth-place showing in the high jump, clearing a personal-best 1.57 meters (5-1.75).
St. Benedict placed fifth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:06.24 from the quartet of Dean, Berg,
Taylor Radaich (Prior Lake, Minn.) and
Macy Piechowski (Winona, Minn.).
Junior
Bella Lund (Mounds, Minn.) finished eighth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.42.
In the 1,000 meters,
Anabella Witschen (Monticello, Minn.) recorded an 11th-place finish in a personal-best 3:05.29, while Radaich followed closely in 12th at 3:05.99. In the 200 meters, sophomore
Allee Feldman (Buffalo, Minn.) led CSB with a 15th-place finish in 27.06, while junior
Julia Babineau (Andover, Minn.) was the Bennies' top finisher in the 3,000 meters, placing 19th in 10:52.89.
