First-year Morgan Hanlin of CSB T&F claims 7th in MIAC Pentathlon

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – First-year Morgan Hanlin (Red Wing, Minn.) opened competition for the College of Saint Benedict track and field team with a seventh-place finish in the pentathlon Thursday at the MIAC Track and Field Championship, held at the Carleton Recreation Center.

Competing in her first MIAC Championship, Hanlin totaled 2,987 points which gives CSB indoor track and field two points (7th place, team standings) heading into the MIAC Championships on Friday.

She placed fourth in the long jump (5.18m – 17-0; 609 points), 10th in the 55-meter hurdles (9.07; 758 points), and 13th in the high jump (1.41m – 4-7.5; 523 points). Hanlin added an eighth-place finish in the shot put (29-3.75; 460 points) and capped the day with a seventh-place showing in the 800 meter (2:34.52; 617 points).

First-year Reese Laposky (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) also competed for CSB, finishing 16th overall with 2,444 points in a field of 18 qualifiers. Laposky recorded an eighth-place finish in the high jump (1.50m – 4-11; 621 points), placed 10th in the long jump (4.80m – 15-9; 506 points), and took 14th in the shot put (8.07m – 26-5.75; 404 points). She also clocked 10.34 (517 points) in the 55 hurdles and ran 2:56.72 (396 points) in the 800 meter.

The full slate of events at the MIAC Championship continues Friday and Saturday. Field events begin at 4 p.m., Friday, followed by track events at 4:30 p.m., Saturday's final session opens with field events at 11:45 a.m., with running events set to start at 1 p.m.
