ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — Senior forward Kira Young of the College of Saint Benedict basketball team has been named The House / St. Cloud Orthopedics CSB Athlete of the Week after powering the Bennies to a pair of victories.

Young (Hudson, Wis.) averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the two wins while shooting an efficient 60.9 percent from the field. She connected on 14-of-23 shots overall, including 14-of-18 from inside the arc, and added averages of 2.0 steals and 1.0 block per game to earn her first career The House / St. Cloud Orthopedics Athlete of the Week honor.
In a 60–50 home victory over St. Catherine on Jan. 14, Young led all scorers with 19 points, hitting 7-of-11 shots from the floor and converting five free throws. She followed that performance with her second career double-double in a 70–57 road win (Jan. 17) at Carleton, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Young also filled the stat sheet in that game with three steals and two blocks while shooting 7-of-12 from the field.
The strong week continued an impressive season for Young, who now has 29 career games scoring in double figures, including nine this season and five straight. In 2025-26, she has averaged 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in leading CSB to an 11-4 record, including 6-2 in the MIAC. She has scored 600 points in 76 career games with 54 starts, while pulling down 382 rebounds, 101 of them on the offensive end.
For her career, Young has made 218 of 542 field-goal attempts (40.2 percent), knocked down 27 three-pointers, and converted 137 free throws at a 69.5 percent clip. She has also contributed 88 assists, 21 blocks, and 64 steals.
Young and the Bennies return to action Wednesday when they host nationally-ranked Bethel at 7 p.m., in Claire Lynch Hall.
