ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — Senior forward
Presley Kraemer (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) turned in a dominant weekend for the College of Saint Benedict women's hockey team and was rewarded by being named The House / St. Cloud Orthopedics CSB Athlete of the Week.
Presley Kraemer
Kraemer scored four goals in a pair of shutout victories, including her second career hat trick, as the Bennies extended their winning streak to three games and improved to 8-2-3 on the season. It marked the second time this year Kraemer has earned the weekly honor, as she was also named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week and CSB Athlete of the Week on Dec. 1.
Behind Kraemer's three-goal performance, Saint Benedict rolled to a 10-0 win over Dubuque on Friday, reaching the 10-goal mark for the first time since 2005. She followed that effort with another goal in Saturday's 7-0 Senior Day victory.
In Friday's opener, Kraemer opened her scoring with an unassisted goal at 18:48 of the first period to make it 5-0. She struck again early in the second period, scoring at 2:11 off an assist from first-year
Regan Flohrs (St. Paul, Minn.). Kraemer completed her hat trick at 12:24 of the period, finishing an even-strength chance with help from first-year
Tana Carlson (Anchorage, Alaska) to give CSB a 7-0 lead heading into the third.
Her three-goal night made Kraemer the first CSB student-athlete to record two hat tricks in the same season since Paula Vogt and Kelly Wegwerth accomplished the feat against Bethel in 2001. She is now the fifth player in program history to record two or more hat tricks in a career.
Kraemer added a power-play goal at 14:07 of Saturday's contest for her fourth goal in two games, with assists from
Helena Siska (Naperville, Ill.) and
Jamie Bimberg (Chanhassen, Minn.) helping the Bennies complete the weekend sweep.
With eight goals this season — tied for second in the MIAC — Kraemer now has 20 career goals. Her eight goals and three assists give her 11 points on the year, second on the team, and push her career total to 35 points.
The 10-goal outburst on Friday marked the sixth time in program history Saint Benedict has scored 10 goals in a game and the 13th time the Bennies have reached double digits.
CSB returns to action next weekend with a home-and-home series against St. Catherine, beginning Friday, Jan. 16, in St. Paul at 7 p.m. The series concludes Saturday, Jan. 17, at Ritsche Arena in St. Joseph at 6 p.m.
