HASTINGS, Minn. – Senior
Catherine Jance continued her standout fall season with a third consecutive top five finish, leading the College of Saint Benedict golf team to a fourth place showing at the Gustie D3 Classic, which concluded Sunday at Emerald Green Golf Course.
The Bennies posted a two-round score of 623 (312-311), tying the program's all-time 36-hole scoring record for the second time this fall. CSB originally set the mark in 2018 and matched it earlier this season at the CSB Invite (310-313). With the performance, Saint Benedict also recorded its third straight top four team finish of the season.
Macalester claimed the team title with a 608 (304-304), led by individual champion Bailey Lengfelder, who finished at 145 (71-74). UW-Stout placed second at 610 (302-308), followed by UW-La Crosse in third at 615 (313-302), narrowly edging CSB.
Jance led the way once again for the Bennies, carding 151 (74-77) to finish in fifth place overall. Her opening-round 74 was the best single-round score by a CSB golfer this season and the second-best of her career. She tallied four birdies and 23 pars on the weekend, improving her previous season-best 36-hole total by four strokes (previously 155).
Senior
Maggie Roth added a strong performance; finishing tied for 13th with a season-best 156 (77-79). It marked a notable improvement after recording back-to-back 160s in her previous two outings.
Sophomore
Sophia Anderson shot 161 (83-78) to finish tied for 28th — her second-best result of the season — while classmate
Taylar Nadler tied for 32nd with a 162 (85-77). Nadler's final-round 77 was her second-best round of the year.
Also contributing for CSB were sophomore
Kenna Henriksen, who finished 40th at 163 (78-85), and
Avery Maus, who placed 72nd with a 174 (87-87), her second-best two-round score of the season.
Next for CSB will be the St. Kate's Invite at the Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn., on Sept. 20-21.
