ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – In 2024-25, the College of Saint Benedict athletics teams again succeeded at a high level as a number of outstanding first-year student-athletes made their mark.
This high-achieving CSB "Rookie of the Year" class not only transitioned to collegiate life, but stood out with accomplishments and teamwork that contributed to outstanding team success, top-10 program marks, a school record, conference honors, and much more. Today, the CSB Athletic Department released the nominees for the 2024-25 "Rookie of the Year" Award with the recipient(s) to be named on Wednesday, June 10.
Basketball – Lauren Arnold/Chanhassen, Minn.
Lauren Arnold
A Chanhassen, Minn., native and global business and exercise and health science major, Arnold played in 19 games, including 18 starts, in helping the Bennies to a 17-10 record and 11-7 in the MIAC (T-4
th). She averaged 9.0 points per game, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while averaging 25.2 minutes per-game. Arnold had 15 double-digit scoring games, including a high of 16 against Augsburg on Feb. 19. Four times, she had five rebounds or more with six on two occasions. She had a high of six assists vs. Concordia-Moorhead on Jan. 15, 2025. Arnold made 13 three-pointers, had six blocks, 22 steals and made 39-of-44 free throws for 88.6 percent. She was also 71-of-143 from the field for 49.7 percent.
Cross Country – Eileen O'Connor/Chicago, Ill.
Elieen O'Connor
A Chicago, Ill., native and nutrition major, she competed in six races and recorded three top-50 finishes. She placed 36
th at the MIAC Championships, helping CSB to a seventh-place team finish. O'Connor, who clocked 24:12.8 at the MIAC Championship, also ran at regionals. She placed seventh at the Toni St. Pierre invite and ran a season-best 6,000-meter time of 23:27.9 at the Interregional Invitational on Oct. 19.
Hockey – Camryn Hargreaves/Minnetrista, Minn.
Cam Hargreaves
A biology and pre-dentistry major from Minnetrista, Minn., Hargreaves led CSB to a 12-10-3 record, including 9-8-1 in the MIAC for sixth place. Hargreaves had seven goals and five assists for 12 points in 25 games. She totaled 57 shots and recorded two goals in a game twice including Wisconsin-Superior (11/5/2024) and Northland (11/27/2024).
Lacrosse – Ava Mosley/Stillwater, Minn.
Ava Mosley
A first-year global business leadership major from Stillwater, Minn., Mosley helped lead CSB to an 11-6 record, including 7-2 and second place in the WIAC. Mosley, who was named All-WIAC and the WIAC Newcomer of the Year, played in and started all 17 games for the Bennies, totaling a team-best 50 goals and 66 points. She also had 16 assists, accumulated 95 shots, with 77 on-goal and a .521 shot percentage. She had three game-winning goals, 26 ground balls, and caused 14 turnovers.
Soccer – Molly Miller/Rosemount, Minn.
Molly Miller
An exercise and health science and biology major from Rosemount, Minn., Miller played in all 17 games for the Bennies, starting 15. She played 1,196 minutes for CSB playing a key role on the Bennie defense. She helped CSB to a 5-8-4 overall record, including 2-7-2 in the MIAC.
Softball – Lily Treml/Shakopee, Minn.
Lily Treml
A sociology and psychology major from Shakopee, Minn.,Treml was named All-MIAC and the MIAC Rookie of the Year in her first season with CSB. In helping CSB to a 26-14 record, including 17-5 and second place in the MIAC, Treml had a .357 batting average (20
th, MIAC), .997 OPS (11
th, MIAC), 40 hits (20
th, MIAC), 27 runs, 13 extra base hits, including nine doubles (T-13
th, MIAC). She three triples and a home run, as well as 25 RBI (16
th, MIAC). The standout first-year also had a .518 slugging percentage (19
th, MIAC), .479 on-base percentage (5
th, MIAC) and was 3-of-3 on stolen bases. She set a season school record with 27 walks, a mark which led the MIAC. Treml finished the season with 12 multi-hit games, including twice recording three hits in a game. She also had seven multi-RBI games - twice recording three RBI in a single game.
Swimming and Diving – Alivia Kortuem/Northfield, Minn.
Alivia Kortuem
An accounting and finance major from Northfield, Minn., Kortuem competed in nine meets, and qualified for the MIAC Championships in the 100 fly, 200 breast and 500 free. At the MIAC Championship, she set a personal best time in the 200 breast of 2:44.29 at the league meet. Kortuem swam in events from the short sprints to long distance. She had a 26.62 clocking in the 50 free; 57.26 in the 100 free; 2:04.73 in the 200 free; 5:45.59 in the 500 free; 11:58.26 in the 1000 free; 19:57.87 in the 1,650 free; 29.26 in the 50 fly; and 1:03.42 in the 100 fly.
Tennis – Layla Collins/Brainerd, Minn.
Layla Collins
An English major from Brainerd, Minn., Collins played 17 singles matches at the number four and five positions in helping CSB to a 7-11 overall record, including 2-8 in the MIAC. She had a 10-7 singles record. In doubles, she played at both second and third doubles and posted a 6-6 mark.
Indoor Track and Field –
Ava Revoir/Duluth, Minn.
Ava Revoir
A finance major from Duluth, Minn, Revoir excelled at the 400 and 600 meter distances for the Bennie track and field team. At the MIAC Indoor Championships she finished sixth with honorable mention All-MIAC honors in the 600 meters (1:40.36) while placing eighth in the 400 meters with a clocking of 59.90 for eighth all-time in program history. She was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay which earned honorable mention All-MIAC honors and helped CSB to a fifth place finish. Her season-best 600-meter time was a 1:38.67 at the CSB/SJU Invite in January, a mark that ranks fifth all-time in school history. At the MIAC Outdoor Championships, Revoir was part of the honorable mention All-MIAC 4x400-meter relay which was sixth in 4:02.10, which helped CSB place fifth in the team race. She had a career-best outdoor clocking in the 400-meter of 58.69, which ranks fifth all-time in program history. She also clocked a personal-best of 26.65 in the 200-meter.
Outdoor Track and Field –
Allison Banse/Mankato, Minn.
Allison Banse
A nursing major from Mankato, Minn., Banse excelled this season in the throws for the Bennie track and field team. During the 2025 season, Banse had a number of standout performances in her first season. Banse finished fifth in the shot put (12.23m - 40-1.5) and was fourth in the discus throw with a personal-best 39.82m - 130-8 at the MIAC Outdoor Championships on May 9-10. Banse's discus throw was the second-best in school history and her efforts contributed to CSB placed fifth indoors as a team. With her throw of 12.42m - 40-09 at the UW-LaCrosse NCAA Qualifer in May, Banse not only recorded a personal-best but had a throw that ranks tied for third in program history with Haley Anderson in 2018. With the throw Banse finished eighth in the competition. In total, she had 23 top eight finishes in throwing events during the indoor and outdoor seasons. At the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship, Banse had a sixth-place finish at 11.77m - 38-07.5 in the shot put. As a result she helped CSB to a fifth place team finish at the outdoor championship. Banse is also a member of the CSB volleyball team which won the MIAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA DIII regional tournament last fall.
Volleyball – Antonia Chowhan/Minnetonka, Minn.
Antonia Chowhan
An outside/opposite hitter and political science/strategic communication studies major from Minnetonka, Minn., Chowhan played in 22 matches, including 71 sets, and recorded 69 kills (0.97/set) on 266 attacks. She had 32 total blocks while scoring 86 points for CSB which finished 15-12 overall with an 8-3 record in the MIAC.. She had a season-high seven kills in the Bennies' MIAC Tournament Championship win over St. Catherine to help CSB advanced to the NCAA DIII Regional.
