COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team delivered a dominant performance Friday, April 25, by rolling past Northwestern (Minn.), 7-0, in nonconference action at the Chang Tennis Complex. With the win, CSB improved to 6-10 on the season ahead of a busy weekend that includes two more matches to close out the regular season.
The Bennies swept all six singles matches and all three doubles contests in a commanding team effort, highlighted by standout performances from senior 
Sophia Jonas, sophomore 
Ella Marohl, first-year 
Lila Collins, and first-year 
Allyson Yahn, each earning wins in both singles and doubles play.
At No. 1 singles, senior 
Sophia Jonas took down Northwestern's Abby Johnson in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Earlier, she teamed up with 
Kate Perbix at No. 1 doubles to defeat Johnson and Paige Johnson, 8-2.
Ella Marohl had a 6-4, 7-5 win over Paige Johnson at No. 2 singles. She and 
Allyson Yahn were flawless in No. 3 doubles, cruising to an 8-0 victory over Isabelle Sullivan and Yerly Rothwell. Yahn also picked up a thrilling singles win at No. 3, outlasting Elise Jarchow in a match tiebreaker, 6-0, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6).
First-year 
Lila Collins impressed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sullivan at No. 5 singles and teamed up with 
Ava Stritesky at No. 2 doubles to edge out Swigart and Jarchow, 8-6.
Also contributing to the victory, sophomore 
Ryanna Steinhaus secured a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, and sophomore 
Marie Labenski closed out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Rothwell.
Next up, the Bennies host UW-River Falls at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Chang Tennis Complex. The match will also serve as Senior Day, honoring 
Sophia Jonas for her contributions to the program. CSB then wraps up the regular season on Sunday against Carleton in a MIAC matchup in Northfield, Minn.
