Golf Preview - CSB Golf returns to the links by competing at Gustie Invite April 12-13

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After a lengthy break from competition since the fall season, the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) golf team is back in action this weekend. The Bennies will tee off at the Gustie Spring Invite, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College, on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13 at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn.

Competition for the 11 teams will begin with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start on Saturday and an 8 a.m. shotgun on Sunday. Live scoring (click here) will be available during the event.

Fall Season Recap – MIAC Championships
CSB wrapped up its fall season with a strong showing at the 2024 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Golf Championships, held at the St. Cloud Country Club. The team earned a sixth-place finish, improving by one spot on the final day of play. The Bennies posted a final-round score of 340 (+52), bringing their three-day tournament total to 1,024 (+160) with consistent rounds of 340-342-342. They narrowly edged St. Olaf by a single stroke.
Leading the team were juniors Catherine Jance and Jamie Bimberg, who both placed in the top 25 individually.
  • Jance finished 23rd with a three-round total of 249 (+33), carding rounds of 85, 82, and 82.
  • Bimberg tied for 25th with a score of 252 (+36) and posted the team's best single-round score of the event with an opening 81.
Other contributors included: Fall Season Highlights
The fall season saw several strong performances and steady improvement from the team.
  • CSB opened the year with a team score of 649 (329-320) at the CSB Invite.
  • They improved by 13 strokes at the D3 Central Region Preview, shooting 636 (316-320).
  • The team's best showing came at the St. Kate's Fall Invite, where they posted a season-best 630 (312-318) — with the single round of 312 the program's lowest team round since the 2021 MIAC Championships.
Key individual performances included:
  • Jamie Bimberg averaged a team-best 80.6 strokes per round, finishing fifth at the CSB Invite with a 152 (78-74) and earning both top-five and top-10 finishes.
  • Maggie Roth recorded a career-best 152 (73-79) at the D3 Central Region Preview and averaged 82.3 per round with a top-10 finish.
  • Catherine Jance had a season-best 150 (75-75) at St. Kate's and maintained a solid average of 81.6.
  • Taylar Nadler finished 24th at the Gustie D3 Classic with a career-best 160 (80-80).
  • First-year Sophia Anderson averaged 83.3, with a career-best 78 at St. Kate's.
Throughout the fall, CSB earned three top-10 team finishes, and several players posted career-best rounds, setting the stage for a promising spring season as the team returns to competition at the Gustie Spring Invite.
