SARTELL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team (3-5, 0-2 MIAC) dropped a 9-0 decision to Bethel (9-2, 4-0) in MIAC play at Sta-Fit.
With the setback, CSB drops to 3-5 overall with an 0-2 mark in MIAC play. Bethel improved to 9-2 overall with a 4-0 mark in the conference. The Bennies will next play Macalester at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 30 at Sta-Fit.
In the match, Bethel recorded wins in all three doubles matches and also swept the singles competition.
In doubles, CSB's No. 1 team of
Sophia Jonas and
Kate Perbix dropped an 8-2 decision to Lauryn Doulgas and Michaela Sullivan. At No. 2, Bethel's team of Julia Baber and Claire Keller had an 8-0 win over
Allyson Yahn and
Ava Stritesky while No. 3 Elisabeth Langhus and Emma Thome registered an 8-4 win over
Ella Marohl and Lisa Collins.
In singles, Douglas defeated Jonas, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Sullivan also had a 6-0, 6-0 win over Marohl at No. 2 singles. At No 3, Keller recorded a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Yahn. At No. 4, Baber had a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Steinhaus. Then, at No. 5, Thole had a 6-2, 6-2 win over
Lila Collins while Perbix lost to Courtney Nuest, 6-1. 6-2, at No. 6.
