ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- Junior Sami Hackley of the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team has been named the St. Cloud Orthopedics / CSB Athlete of the Week after making history as the first player in school history to score 100 career goals.

Hackley, a junior biology major from Plymouth, Minn. (Wayzata), has now earned her second career St. Cloud Orthopedics / CSB Athlete of the Week honor. She put up an impressive eight points – including five goals and three assists – leading the College of Saint Benedict to a dominant 23-4 victory over Hamline in a nonconference matchup on March 16 at St. Joseph, Minn., in the team's home opener.

In addition to her offensive performance, Hackley contributed three ground balls and netted the game-winning goal. Her fifth goal of the game, scored at 2:13 in the fourth period, marked a historic achievement as she became the first player in CSB lacrosse history to surpass 100 career goals.

This season, Hackley leads the team with 10 goals and has accumulated 16 total points, including six assists. She has registered 24 career multi-goal games and has scored multiple goals in 13 of the past 14 contests over the past two-plus years. Hackley has 124 career points ,including the 100 goals and 24 assists. In her career, she now has a program-best seven game-winning goals to her name.

Following the victory, Hackley and the College of Saint Benedict (2-1) will look forward to their next challenge on March 26, when they face UW-River Falls in their first-ever WIAC conference game.
