Jones has 14 kills but CSB Volleyball drops 3-1 decision to (RV) Northwestern

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team fell, 3–1, to (RV) Northwestern-St. Paul in a hard-fought nonconference matchup Wednesday night at the Ericksen Center.

Jones led the Bennies (15–6) with 14 kills and eight digs, hitting .233 on 30 swings and adding two service aces. It marked the third time in four matches she's tallied 14 or more kills.

Freshman setter Ginny Schuler turned in a career night with 25 assists and nine digs, while junior Brooke Andries added 10 kills on 30 attacks (.233). First-year standout Keira McManus was error-free, recording eight kills on 18 attacks for an impressive .444 hitting percentage. Defensively, senior Chaeli Haupert led CSB with 15 digs, and Ingrid Noha also reached double digits with 10.

As a team, Saint Benedict posted 51 kills on 154 attacks for a .156 hitting percentage. Northwestern (18–6), which received 44 votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll, held statistical edges in kills (57–51), assists (53–46), blocks (11–6), and digs (67–65).

The Eagles took the opening set, 25–19, hitting .265 to CSB's .125. The Bennies bounced back in set two, rallying for a 26–24 win behind 16 kills and a late two-point surge. However, Northwestern regained control, using efficient hitting to claim the next two sets, 25–21 and 25–16. The Eagles closed strongly, hitting .367 in the final frame while holding CSB to .114.

Up next, the Bennies return home for two matches, beginning with Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. against Concordia at Claire Lynch Hall.
